Van Driver (Eastern Region) – Sales & Distribution Jobs – MTN Uganda

Job Overview

MTN Uganda is seeking a dedicated Van Driver for the Eastern Region to support sales and distribution operations. This role is critical in ensuring that field teams, equipment, and materials reach their destinations safely and on time. The driver will report to the Regional Management and operate primarily out of Kampala with frequent travel across the Eastern Region. The position is ideal for a professional driver who takes pride in vehicle maintenance, road safety, and customer service. Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport MTN Uganda employees, authorized passengers, equipment, and materials while complying with all traffic laws, company policies, and defensive driving standards.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain the vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition, and promptly report any mechanical faults, accidents, or safety concerns.
• Support MTN activations, customer engagements, field visits, events, and other regional operations, including emergency or urgent assignments when required.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel, mileage, and service records, and safeguard company vehicles, equipment, documents, and other assigned assets.
• Maintain a professional MTN brand image, provide courteous customer service, comply with HSSE requirements, and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or Regional Management.
• Plan and execute efficient routes across Eastern Uganda, ensuring timely delivery of goods and personnel to trading centres, districts, and remote locations.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and materials during field operations, activations, and customer engagements.
• Respond to emergency or urgent assignments as directed by the supervisor or Regional Management, including out-of-hours calls when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Minimum of UACE or equivalent qualification, demonstrating basic literacy and numeracy skills necessary for record keeping and communication.
• Must possess a valid and current driving licence appropriate for passenger vans/minibuses, with at least 3 years of professional driving experience.
• Proven experience driving passenger vehicles/minibuses carrying 15 or more passengers, with a clean driving record and strong knowledge of defensive driving, road safety, and accident prevention.

Desirable

• Good knowledge of roads, towns, trading centres, districts, and rural routes within Eastern Uganda, including Apac, Lira, Mbale, Jinja, Tororo, and Busia.
• Experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment, particularly within telecom, logistics, or sales distribution sectors.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor vehicle maintenance and identify faults early.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the MTN brand professionally at all times.
