Job Overview
Anchor Machines is seeking a detail oriented Finance Officer to manage accounting operations, financial reporting, cash flow, receivables, and loan-book monitoring. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy and supporting business decisions across operations and commercial teams. The Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining robust financial controls while supporting strategic initiatives through accurate data and insightful reporting. This position demands both technical expertise and practical problem solving abilities.
The role encompasses traditional accounting functions alongside specialized lending portfolio management making it ideal for candidates with commercial finance or fintech experience. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare management accounts budgets forecasts cash-flow reports and dashboards for monthly review by senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Process invoices payments receipts expense claims and perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate general ledger maintenance.
- Monitor loan disbursements repayments arrears collections and portfolio risk to support effective credit management decisions.
- Follow up receivables and support credit-control and recovery actions to minimize bad debt and improve cash flow efficiency.
- Develop financial models for the business to support forecasting investment decisions and scenario planning exercises.
- Maintain fixed-asset records support tax compliance audits internal controls and reporting to meet regulatory and internal requirements.
- Work with operations and commercial teams to ensure accurate billing and transaction profitability analysis for all business activities.
- Assist in preparing statutory financial returns and liaise with external auditors during annual audit processes to ensure smooth completion.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Finance Commerce or a related field from a recognized university or institution.
- ACCA or CPA qualification required advanced level finalists may be considered for this position pending completion.
- At least 3 years experience in accounting audit credit lending leasing fintech or a related commercial environment demonstrating progression.
- Strong experience in financial reporting budgeting cash-flow management reconciliations and financial modelling using standard methodologies.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions including VLOOKUP INDEX MATCH pivot tables and complex financial calculations.
Desirable
- Experience with loan-book monitoring receivables collections or credit-control functions in a lending or financial services environment.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks Sage or SAP plus Power Query and dashboard development tools.
- Knowledge of Ugandan tax regulations IFRS standards and local financial reporting requirements for compliance purposes.
- Experience in developing automated financial reporting systems to improve efficiency and reduce manual processing time.
- Background in manufacturing or asset intensive industries where fixed asset management and utilization tracking is critical.
