Successful candidates will contribute to network optimization, service deployment and incident resolution for critical communications infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work with a global leader in telecommunications technology.

The role demands proactive monitoring, advanced troubleshooting and coordination with cross-functional teams to maintain high availability of voice services. Engineers will support migrations from legacy systems to IMS-based solutions while ensuring compliance with operational standards and SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize fixed voice services including SIP trunks, hosted PBX, PSTN emulation and enterprise voice solutions for business customers.
  • Provision, activate, test and troubleshoot voice services for enterprise customers, ensuring timely service delivery and minimal disruption.
  • Support Webex calling, unified communications, BroadWorks/SP and third-party voice application platforms through configuration and integration tasks.
  • Monitor network performance, analyze alarms and proactively resolve service-impacting issues to maintain high availability and voice quality.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of SIP signaling, call routing, voice quality, media gateway and subscriber provisioning issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Support migrations from legacy PSTN, E1/PRI and NGN platforms to IMS-based services through planning, testing and cutover activities.
  • Conduct protocol analysis using tools such as Wireshark and perform Root Cause Analysis for service incidents to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with change management, operational procedures and service-level agreements through documentation and adherence to standards.
  • Manage equipment licensing, platform upgrades, configuration changes and capacity expansion activities to support network evolution and growth.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting IMS Core platforms including HSS, MGCF, SBC and associated voice network elements.
  • Proven expertise in SIP protocol, VoIP technologies and voice service troubleshooting in enterprise or carrier-grade environments.
  • Strong experience with Huawei or similar vendor IMS platforms and fixed-line voice solutions including hosted PBX and SIP trunking.
  • Ability to perform protocol analysis using Wireshark and other diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex voice service issues.
  • Knowledge of legacy voice systems including PSTN, E1/PRI and NGN platforms and experience supporting migration to IMS-based services.

Desirable

  • Certifications in Huawei IMS, VoIP technologies or unified communications platforms such as BroadWorks or Cisco Voice.
  • Experience supporting Webex Calling, Microsoft Teams Phone or other cloud-based unified communications services in enterprise settings.
  • Familiarity with ITIL change management, incident management and service delivery frameworks in telecommunications operations.
  • Understanding of QoS, MOS and voice quality measurement techniques to ensure optimal user experience on voice networks.
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning and optimization of voice platforms for scalability and reliability.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Ugandan telecommunications market.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including inpatient and outpatient benefits for employee and dependents.
  • Monthly transport and housing allowances to support daily commuting and accommodation needs in Kampala.
  • Paid annual leave, public holidays and sick leave in accordance with Ugandan labor laws and company policy.
