Job Overview

The Network Coordinator position supports the Faith in Freedom programme in Uganda, working to strengthen Freedom of Religion and Belief through civil society engagement. This role is based within Mensen met een Missie’s international cooperation framework focused on peacebuilding and social cohesion. The successful candidate will collaborate with faith-based and community organisations across Ugandan regions to foster dialogue and reduce religious tensions.

Mensen met een Missie operates globally to challenge exclusionary narratives and repair relationships between divided communities. In Uganda, the Faith in Freedom programme specifically targets meaningful participation of women, youth and religious minorities in peace processes. This administrative role requires sensitivity to local contexts while implementing programme activities that promote inclusive citizenship and social change.

The position offers an opportunity to contribute to long-term peacebuilding efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa through evidence-based advocacy and conflict-sensitive approaches. Working closely with local partners, the Network Coordinator will help build trust across religious divides while supporting advocacy for more inclusive policies at national and community levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate programme activities between Mensen met een Missie headquarters and Ugandan partner organisations including scheduling meetings and tracking deliverables.
• Maintain accurate records of network engagements with faith-based organisations civil society groups and community leaders across target regions in Uganda.
• Support the organisation of workshops dialogues and training sessions focused on religious tolerance and inclusive citizenship concepts.
• Monitor and report on programme progress using established indicators ensuring data quality and timely submission to regional coordinators.
• Facilitate communication between local partners and the Faith in Freedom programme team in The Hague regarding activity updates and challenges.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for women youth and religious minorities to participate meaningfully in programme activities and leadership roles.
• Contribute to conflict sensitivity assessments by gathering local insights and monitoring potential risks in programme implementation areas.
• Support evidence-based advocacy efforts by collecting case stories and documenting lessons learned from programme interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences international relations development studies or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum two years of experience in programme coordination administrative support or project management within NGOs or civil society organisations.
• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse religious and cultural groups demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect.
• Strong organisational skills with experience managing multiple tasks maintaining records and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with ability to produce clear reports and documentation.

Desirable

• Experience working specifically on Freedom of Religion and Belief interfaith dialogue or religious tolerance programmes.
• Knowledge of Ugandan religious landscape including major faith traditions interfaith initiatives and local peacebuilding actors.
• Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks particularly for advocacy and social change programmes.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for communication data management and virtual collaboration platforms.
• Previous experience working with international organisations or understanding of European donor funding requirements.
