Job Overview
DFCU Bank is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to join its Ecosystems & Partnerships team in Kampala. This role is pivotal in identifying, developing, and managing strategic alliances that support the bank’s ambition to expand into new business lines and strengthen its core offerings. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to create value-driven partnerships that accelerate innovation and market reach.
Reporting to the Head of Ecosystems & Partnerships, the position requires a proactive individual with strong commercial acumen and relationship management skills. You will be responsible for sourcing partnership opportunities, negotiating deals, and ensuring seamless integration with internal teams. The role demands a deep understanding of commercial contracts, intellectual property, and venture commercialization in a regulated banking environment.
This is a full-time opportunity based in Uganda, ideal for a professional passionate about driving growth through collaboration. You will engage with diverse stakeholders including fintechs, corporates, and technology providers to build mutually beneficial alliances. Your work will directly contribute to DFCU Bank’s inorganic growth strategy and long-term competitiveness in the financial sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the identification and prioritization of strategic partnership targets aligned with DFCU Bank’s growth objectives and market expansion plans.
- Develop and execute partnership strategies using industry insights to create value-adding collaborations that support inorganic growth ambitions.
- Prepare comprehensive business cases for each partnership, including financial modelling, synergy analysis, market forecasts, and shared value assessments.
- Collaborate with product, technology, marketing, and legal teams to ensure smooth integration and execution of partnership initiatives.
- Own the commercialization process of strategic alliances, working closely with business units to translate agreements into operational reality.
- Manage partner relationships through structured deal governance, milestone tracking, and negotiation to achieve mutual business objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison for strategic partners, fostering trust and maintaining consistent communication across all engagement levels.
- Engage with risk, compliance, and security teams to ensure all partnerships meet regulatory and internal risk management standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in partnership management, business development, or corporate strategy within banking, fintech, or telecommunications.
- Proven track record in negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts and strategic alliances.
- Strong financial modelling skills with experience in forecasting, valuation, and synergy analysis for partnership opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities, capable of influencing cross-functional teams and external partners at senior levels.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a relevant specialization.
- Experience working in Uganda’s financial services sector or with East African regional partners.
- Familiarity with intellectual property rights, licensing structures, and venture commercialization processes.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing partnerships in the Ugandan banking industry.
- Certification in project management (PMP) or strategic partnership management.
