Job Overview

PATH is recruiting a Supply Chain Specialist to support critical immunization logistics in Uganda. This role focuses on strengthening cold chain and vaccine supply chain systems through data management, analytics, and digital solutions. The specialist will work closely with government partners to improve vaccine availability and system performance.

Based in Kampala, the position supports national efforts to enhance immunization equity by ensuring vaccines reach every child safely and on time. The role requires technical expertise in supply chain operations, data systems, and stakeholder coordination. Success in this role contributes directly to improved public health outcomes across Uganda.

The Supply Chain Specialist will provide hands-on technical support to the Ministry of Health, UNEPI, and National Medical Stores. Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to MoH/UNEPI and NMS to strengthen cold chain equipment monitoring and maintenance planning for reliable vaccine storage.
• Lead analysis and use of cold chain and vaccine supply chain data to inform equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions.
• Provide technical oversight for the upgrade and enhancement of the Cold Chain Information System (CCIS) in coordination with MoH, NMS, and consultants.
• Define requirements for digital system integration, interoperability, and data prioritization to improve immunization supply chain functionality.
• Support data management, analysis, visualization, and use at national and subnational levels to drive evidence-based decision-making.
• Develop and review technical guidance materials including training manuals, SOPs, user guides, and quick reference materials for health workers.
• Collaborate with MoH, UNEPI, NMS, digital health stakeholders, and partners, representing PATH in Technical Working Groups and coordination forums.
• Document and share implementation experiences, lessons learned, and best practices through communities of practice, webinars, and technical forums.
• Support project planning, budgeting, and monitoring activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of supply chain interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Public Health, Engineering, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in supply chain, logistics, or immunization programs, preferably in low-resource settings.
• Proven experience with cold chain management, vaccine logistics, or health commodity supply chain systems.
• Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, and experience managing large datasets for decision-making.
• Experience working with government health systems, particularly Ministries of Health or immunization programs in Africa.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders including government officials and partners.

Desirable

• Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain, Public Health, or International Development.
• Experience with digital health information systems, including DHIS2, LMIS, or specialized cold chain monitoring platforms.
• Familiarity with WHO-UNICEF Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) standards and assessment tools.
• Knowledge of Gavi policies, procedures, and requirements for health system strengthening and immunization support.
• Experience developing training materials and conducting capacity-building workshops for health workers and supply chain personnel.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools for planning, monitoring, and evaluating public health interventions.
