The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting clear vision awareness while supporting the branch’s sales targets.

As a Sales Representative, you will interact with potential customers both in the field and at the branch, educating them about the benefits of eyeglasses and guiding them through frame and lens selection. You will work closely with eye specialists and report directly to the Branch Manager, ensuring a seamless customer experience from initial contact to final delivery.

This position offers an opportunity to build a career in retail sales within a fast-growing pan-African company that values integrity, customer service, and personal growth. Lapaire operates across multiple African countries and is committed to improving access to quality eyewear.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reach out to and attend potential customers in the field and at the branch to generate sales leads.
  • Increase awareness about the importance of clear sight through direct customer engagement and educational outreach.
  • Participate in fieldwork activities such as distributing flyers and collecting leads and contact information.
  • Use product knowledge to explain the benefits of wearing eyeglasses to diverse customer groups.
  • Listen to customer needs and help them choose suitable frames and lenses based on lifestyle and prescription.
  • Convert customer interest into successful sales by addressing concerns and presenting value propositions.
  • Follow up with potential customers via phone to answer questions on pricing, payment options, and delivery timelines.
  • Accurately enter contact details of field-acquired leads into the company database for tracking.
  • Present clear pricing and installment plan options to customers to facilitate purchase decisions.
  • Collect deposits and close sales with customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure smooth delivery of products to customers and keep them informed about order status.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in a business or retail sales environment.
  • Proven customer service orientation with solid understanding of basic sales techniques and telephone etiquette.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities for building rapport.
  • Proficiency in accounting and data analysis software, particularly Microsoft Excel for tracking sales and customer information.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in the optical, healthcare, or retail eyewear industry is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with basic eyewear products, including frame types and lens options, to better assist customers.
  • Ability to speak Luganda or other local languages commonly used in Masaka to enhance customer communication.
  • Experience with CRM systems or lead management tools to improve follow-up efficiency and sales conversion.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales targets in previous roles.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based incentives tied to sales achievements.
  • Transport facilitation to support fieldwork activities, including reimbursement for approved travel within Masaka and surrounding areas.
  • Daily lunch allowance or provision of meals during working hours to support employee well-being.
  • Access to basic health insurance coverage after the probation period, including outpatient care benefits.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within Lapaire’s expanding network across Uganda and Africa.
  • Employee discounts on Lapaire eyewear products for personal use, encouraging product familiarity and brand advocacy.
