Job Overview
Welthungerhilfe is seeking a dedicated Resource Mobilisation & Programme Officer to join its team in Kampala. This role supports the organisation’s mission to combat hunger and poverty through effective fundraising and programme implementation. The successful candidate will contribute to securing vital resources for projects across six sub-regions of Uganda.
The position is based in Kampala with an initial contract of one year starting from 12.10.2026. It offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from UGX 3,640,000 to UGX 4,800,000 gross, inclusive of benefits. The role plays a key part in strengthening WHH’s presence in West Nile, Karamoja, Teso, Central, Rwenzori and Southwestern regions.
Welthungerhilfe has operated in Uganda since 1986, partnering with government bodies, local NGOs and communities. Its programmes focus on food systems, nutrition, climate resilience, economic empowerment, WASH, gender equality and humanitarian response. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, editing and formatting funding proposals, concept notes and reports to meet donor requirements and WHH standards.
- Support the preparation of concept notes by gathering relevant data from programme teams and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Contribute to the development of compelling narratives that highlight project impact and value for potential donors and partners.
- Help maintain an updated database of funding opportunities and donor guidelines to inform proposal development timelines.
- Coordinate with programme officers to collect progress reports, budgets and monitoring data for inclusion in funding applications.
- Assist in translating technical programme information into clear, persuasive language suitable for international donor audiences.
- Support the organisation’s resource mobilisation strategy by identifying gaps and opportunities in current funding pipelines.
- Ensure all documents adhere to WHH’s branding, formatting and quality control standards before submission.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in development studies, international relations, communications, business administration or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in proposal writing, fundraising or programme support within an NGO or development organisation.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise and persuasive English documents under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian and development context in Uganda, including key donors and funding mechanisms.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, for document preparation and data management.
Desirable
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as development economics, project management or public policy.
- Experience working with European Union, ECHO, GIZ or other major international donors and their application procedures.
- Knowledge of Welthungerhilfe’s programme areas including food security, WASH, climate resilience and gender equality.
- Experience in editing and peer-reviewing technical documents to improve clarity and compliance with donor standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment with sensitivity to gender and social inclusion principles.
- Familiarity with results-based management frameworks and logical approach to project design.
