  • Enter and update relevant data in appropriate systems, ensuring vulnerable individuals receive assistance that guarantees their safety, security, and comfort.
  • Provide extended support at transit centers for periods up to 12 hours, including overnight periods and weekends, ensuring continuous care for individuals in transition.
  • Communicate promptly with third-party facility representatives and supervisors regarding any issues that arise during operations.
  • Coordinate transportation from consolidation points and transit centers, liaising with service providers and ensuring identity verification of transported individuals.
  • Assist with baggage sorting and handling, ensuring that personal belongings are securely managed and returned to owners upon arrival.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of a Diploma or equivalent vocational training in public administration, logistics, international relations, or a related field of study.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in logistics, operations, refugee assistance, or a similar humanitarian setting within Uganda or the East African region.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced and sensitive environments.
  • Fluency in English and a working knowledge of Swahili or a local Ugandan language is highly desirable for community engagement.
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications and experience with data entry and management systems used in humanitarian operations.

Desirable

  • Prior experience working with international organizations such as UNHCR, IOM, or other NGOs in Uganda is a significant advantage.
  • Certification in first aid, security management, or logistics coordination would be highly beneficial for field operations.
  • Experience in handling sensitive travel documentation, visas, exit permissions, and immigration procedures in an airport or transit setting.
  • Familiarity with the refugee situation in Uganda, including the operational contexts of settlements like Bidibidi, Kyangwali, or Imvepi.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience and aligned with IOM Uganda’s standardized pay scales for national staff positions.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your immediate family members.
  • Accommodation support or housing allowance provided for field-based assignments, ensuring safe and secure living conditions during extended operations.
  • Transport allowance and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for field missions, covering meals, local transport, and incidentals during overnight stays.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 30 days, plus public holidays and sick leave, supporting a healthy work-life balance in a demanding role.
  • Opportunities for professional development through IOM’s internal training programs and potential for career progression within the organization.
