Job Overview

The Accounts Assistant role at G4S Security Services Uganda Limited is a vital position within the finance team, focusing on receivables and collections. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the incumbent will oversee a diverse portfolio of corporate, NGO, banking, and diplomatic accounts across the Manned Security, Electronic Security Systems, and Cash Solutions business units. This role ensures accurate billing, stringent credit control, and systematic debt collection in full compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority regulations. The position is based in Kampala and offers a full-time schedule from 8 am to 5 pm. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

One of the primary duties is to prepare and issue accurate invoices for services rendered across all business units, ensuring that all billing details align with contractual agreements and URA tax requirements. The Accounts Assistant must monitor incoming payments, reconcile bank statements, and update the accounting system promptly to reflect cleared transactions. Another key responsibility involves performing credit checks on new and existing clients, setting appropriate credit limits, and flagging any accounts that show signs of delinquency. The role also requires initiating collection activities, including sending reminders, making phone calls, and negotiating payment plans with overdue customers. Maintaining detailed records of all collection efforts and preparing aging reports for management review is essential. Additionally, the Accounts Assistant assists in month-end closing processes, prepares journal entries related to receivables, and supports internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognised institution. A minimum of two years of hands‑on experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or collections is required, preferably within a fast‑paced service or security industry. Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems is highly advantageous, as is advanced skill in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax regulations, particularly VAT and withholding tax as administered by the URA, is essential to ensure compliance. Excellent communication skills are needed to liaise with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders in a professional manner. The candidate should demonstrate high integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
