This role is vital for ensuring the smooth operation of their workshop by managing the receipt, storage, issuance and control of spare parts, tools, lubricants and other materials. Based at their Kampala office, the Store Keeper will work within a boutique HR consultancy firm that serves clients across East Africa. The position requires someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect all incoming parts, materials and supplies against purchase orders and delivery notes to verify quantity and quality.
• Properly store and label all stock items using systematic methods to ensure easy retrieval and prevent damage or deterioration.
• Issue parts and materials to authorised personnel only, maintaining strict control over access and documenting all transactions accurately.
• Record all stock movements including receipts, issues and transfers in the inventory system with zero tolerance for errors.
• Maintain orderly, clean and secure storage areas by implementing regular housekeeping schedules and security checks.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and support monthly reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure inventory accuracy.
• Report damaged, missing, obsolete or low-stock items promptly to supervisors with recommendations for action or disposal.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of lubricants and hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate store records, documentation and filing systems for easy audit and reference purposes.
• Follow AGL inventory, safety and security procedures consistently to uphold company standards and compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Certificate or Diploma in Stores Management, Logistics, Supply Chain or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 24 months hands-on experience working in a stores, warehouse or inventory control environment.
• Proven ability to use basic inventory management systems and maintain accurate manual records when required.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for accurate stock taking, data entry and report preparation.
• Ability to lift and move stock items safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines and workplace safety practices.
• Good communication skills for interacting with suppliers, workshop staff and management on stores-related matters.

Desirable

• Prior experience working specifically in an automotive, workshop or mechanical stores environment is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AGL inventory procedures or similar specialised stock control systems used in technical workshops.
• Knowledge of different types of lubricants, their properties and appropriate storage requirements to maintain quality.
• Experience conducting regular stock takes and participating in annual inventory audits.
• Basic understanding of procurement principles and how stores functions integrate with purchasing and finance departments.
• Ability to identify obsolete or slow-moving stock and suggest appropriate disposal or return strategies.
