- Optimize turnaround times and backhaul opportunities to maximize fleet productivity and reduce empty running kilometers.
- Supervise driver teams, enforce health safety and environment standards, and track performance using KPIs such as speeding incidents and rest compliance.
- Lead incident response procedures including accident reporting, breakdown assistance, and cargo security alerts.
- Coordinate with Fleet & Maintenance to ensure vehicle availability and preventive maintenance schedules are met.
- Liaise with Clearing & Forwarding teams to align documentation, customs clearance, and delivery timelines for cross-border shipments.
- Collaborate with customer service to provide accurate shipment updates and resolve delivery exceptions promptly.
- Audit trip expenses including fuel, tolls, and driver allowances to control operational costs and identify savings opportunities.
- Report on key operational KPIs such as on-time delivery, idle time, and load factor to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with national transport laws, axle load regulations, and cross-border transit requirements across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Essential
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or superintendent-level experience in transport operations, heavy vehicle fleet dispatching, and driver management.
- Proven experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS), fleet telematics, GPS tracking platforms, and route optimization software.
- In-depth knowledge of national transport laws, axle load limits, vehicle dimensions regulations, and cross-border permit requirements in East Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to manage driver teams, enforce safety protocols, and respond to operational incidents effectively.
Desirable
- Experience managing cross-border or long-haul transport operations across multiple East African countries.
- Familiarity with dangerous goods handling procedures and hazardous materials transport regulations.
- Background in heavy lifting, specialized cargo transport, or project logistics operations.
