BrighterMonday Consulting

Job Overview

BrighterMonday Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Uganda. This role is pivotal in bridging creative design concepts with practical manufacturing solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production of custom-made furniture through a network of trusted third-party vendors. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, vendor management skills, and a keen eye for quality assurance to ensure every piece meets our high standards. As a Technical Supervisor, you will play a key role in translating client visions into tangible, high-quality products that exceed expectations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with external partners to achieve common goals. You will not be managing an internal workshop but will instead focus on coordinating with contract manufacturers, ensuring they adhere to our specifications and timelines. The successful candidate will be a problem-solver who can navigate the complexities of outsourced production while maintaining rigorous quality control. Your work will directly impact client satisfaction and the reputation of BrighterMonday Consulting as a leader in custom furniture solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate custom design concepts into detailed technical production packages for local fabricators.
  • Vet and select reliable third-party suppliers based on quality, capacity, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance inspections at vendor sites to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Coordinate production schedules with vendors to guarantee on-time delivery of custom furniture pieces.
  • Manage client communications regarding technical specifications, timelines, and any production adjustments.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all production processes, including vendor performance records.
  • Resolve technical issues that arise during fabrication by providing real-time support to vendors.
  • Monitor budget adherence across all outsourced production projects to prevent cost overruns.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in furniture manufacturing, production supervision, or vendor management.
  • Proven track record of managing outsourced production while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
  • Strong understanding of furniture construction techniques, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for coordinating with vendors and clients.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make sound decisions under pressure.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Design or Business Administration.
  • Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) or project management (PMP).
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers in the East African region, particularly Uganda.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and 3D modeling tools for creating technical drawings and specifications.
  • Background in client-facing roles within the furniture or interior design industry.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive salary package with performance-based bonuses tied to project success and client satisfaction.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your immediate family members.
  • Monthly transport allowance to cover commuting expenses within Kampala and surrounding areas.
  • Professional development opportunities including training workshops and industry conferences.
  • Flexible working hours with occasional remote work options for administrative tasks and client meetings.
