About the role

We are looking for a Chef Manager to take over the running of the business so that the founder can step back. This is the most senior position on the team and the one we most want to fill.

You will own the client relationship from the first message through to the completed booking. Most enquiries arrive on WhatsApp and through the website, and the difference between a quiet month and a busy one is how quickly and how confidently those enquiries are answered. This is a closing role before it is anything else. If you are comfortable selling, you will do well here.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer and close client enquiries on WhatsApp and through the website, usually within minutes of them arriving, because response speed is what wins these bookings
• Recruit, brief and schedule chefs across weekly meal prep, dinner parties, villa catering and small corporate events
• Match the right chef to each client and keep quality consistent across every booking, so that first time clients become regular ones
• Prepare quotes, follow them up properly, and convert one off jobs into repeat weekly clients
• Manage the working relationship with chefs, including briefing them on client expectations before each job
• Keep simple, reliable records of bookings, chefs and payments so the business runs predictably

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• You can sell. This matters more than anything else on this list, because the role is fundamentally about converting enquiries into paying clients
• A kitchen or catering background, so that you can speak credibly to chefs and to clients about food
• Fast, clear written English, since a large part of the job happens in a chat window
• Organised enough to run several bookings a week across different chefs and locations without letting any slip
• Based in Kampala and reachable during evenings and weekends, when many bookings happen

Desirable

• Experience managing chefs or kitchen staff
• An existing network of chefs in Kampala you can call on at short notice
• Familiarity with private household or event catering rather than restaurant service alone
• Comfort with simple digital tools such as WhatsApp Business, spreadsheets and web forms
