This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse clients while promoting Uganda’s rich tourism offerings.

The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of experience in tour consulting within Uganda’s tourism sector. You will leverage your knowledge of local properties, lodges, and destinations to craft personalized itineraries that exceed client expectations. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for showcasing Uganda’s natural beauty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients via WhatsApp, email, and phone calls to manage inquiries, provide expert advice, and guide them through the booking process for Uganda safari packages.
  • Prepare detailed quotations and itineraries, negotiate competitive rates with hotels, lodges, and activity providers, and ensure accurate pricing for all travel components.
  • Coordinate complex reservations including accommodation bookings, domestic flights, ground transportation, and activity scheduling while documenting all client preferences and special requests.
  • Prepare comprehensive client briefing documents, verify daily movement files, and confirm all bookings and supplier invoices are accurate before client departure.
  • Provide responsive customer support during travel, handle emergency situations professionally, manage complaints according to company policy, and process refunds when necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Uganda’s tourism properties, including new lodge openings, seasonal rate changes, and emerging destinations to inform client recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to share market insights, client feedback, and destination updates that support effective marketing and product development efforts.
  • Track booking performance against sales targets, identify opportunities for upselling additional services, and contribute to monthly revenue goals through proactive client engagement.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Travel and Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a closely related field from a recognized educational institution.
  • Minimum three years of proven experience working as a Tour Consultant specifically within Uganda’s tourism industry.
  • Extensive and current knowledge of Uganda’s diverse tourism properties, including national parks, luxury lodges, budget accommodations, and cultural sites.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets in previous tour consulting or travel sales roles.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, with ability to communicate clearly and professionally with international clients via multiple channels.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with proven multitasking ability to manage multiple client bookings simultaneously without errors.

Desirable

  • Additional certification in destination management or specialized tourism products such as gorilla trekking, birding safaris, or cultural tours.
  • Experience using travel booking systems, CRM software, or tour operator platforms commonly used in the Ugandan tourism sector.
  • Knowledge of other East African destinations including Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda to offer combined itinerary options to clients.
  • Proficiency in basic travel accounting principles and experience handling client payments, supplier invoices, and financial reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with sustainable tourism practices and ability to recommend eco-friendly accommodations and responsible tour operators to environmentally conscious clients.

What the Role Offers

  • Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonuses tied to individual and team sales achievements.
  • Monthly transport allowance to facilitate reliable commuting to the Kampala office and occasional field visits to partner properties.
  • Subsidized daily lunch provision at the office, ensuring access to nutritious meals during work hours without personal expense.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including outpatient and inpatient benefits for the employee, providing peace of mind and security.
  • Professional development opportunities including sponsored attendance at tourism industry workshops, webinars, and familiarization trips to Ugandan destinations.
